Contrasting materials are highlighted in the kitchen, which features natural and man-made materials such as roughhewn wood beams, stainless steel countertops and raw concrete block walls. The butterfly shape of the roof slopes down to create a chute which funnels water into a reservoir for the garden. A two-story atrium space, the bedrooms and a study on the second floor are situated to take advantage of the views toward a ravine and lake.
